Aurelio Santarelli is a freelance animator and cartoonist. His clients include Cartoon Network, Nicktoons, E! Entertainment, AOL, Johnson & Johnson, and CNBC.
His muse is the product of an infantile mind mated with a firm grasp of drawing fundamentals. Also integral to his idea generating process are sleep deprivation mediated hallucinations, creativity spurring self-mortification via remorseless gorging on mounds of junk food followed by bracing saltwater enemas, and the drastic reduction of the need for original thought by brazenly obvious plagiarism.
Having adopted the sleep patterns of the great carnivores, who typically slumber up to twenty hours a day, his work habits are at best sporadic. Upon rising he takes his breakfast, consuming the equivalent of one wildebeest a week and devouring all parts of the animal except for any stomach content, scraps of bone, and teeth. Afterwards, he pads around his apartment scent marking his work area so as to prevent his wife, who frequently wears a pith helmet and carries a high powered rifle, from intruding upon his territory. He then prepares for work by staring intently into a clothes engorged hamper. The horrifying prospect of doing the laundry (not to mention the eye watering fumes) sends him fleeing to his drawing table with a renewed dedication and a heightened sense of purpose, albeit a lingering nausea.
Notwithstanding this painful creative process he is always eager to sink his teeth into interesting and challenging animation projects.
